Interstellar

Interstellar won me over with a fantastic visual display paired with emotional, powerful performances from Matthew McConaughey, Anne Hathaway, and Jessica Chastain. Everything in the film — from Hans Zimmer's thrilling score to the philosphically driven screenplay — is about taking the audience on the journey with the astronauts. We wait in suspense for the next planet, watch in awe of universe-eating black holes, and cry along with the characters. Christopher Nolan could have easily relied on technical achievements to dazzle audiences, but the genius behind The Dark Knight and Inception understood that space travel is more than mathematical equations and astrophysical theories. Space travel is an essential human desire in the name of exploration, wonder, and love.
